NATIONAL CONSULTANT-NUTRITION & FOOD SAFETY, GRADE: SSA8
(12 months – with possibility of extension)
The incumbent is responsible to facilitate to strengthen policies (both nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive) and programmes related to nutrition, food & social welfare; identify the key policies and existence of policy coherence, institutional and capacity development actions needed for systems, structures and human resources to implement the nutrition strategy; assess the capacity of the health system for mainstreaming nutrition (special focus on 20 components of NNS); critically and objectively review the current system;support to develop a monitoring and evaluation mechanism allowing for the measurement and report. S/he also needs to create enabling environment for strengthening partnerships for scaling up nutrition with civil society, and other stakeholders, and building accountability to citizens. The incumbent needs to facilitate for integration of “Nutrition Services” into the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) package/ HR strategy/ HRM plan/ Health Care financing etc.
It is essential that the candidate have an advanced degree in nutrition from recognized University including training on food security and agricultural science, food policy or related fields with 10-year experience in relevant areas.
