About Our Client
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is a multilateral development bank (MDB) founded in 1975 and headquartered in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the Bank is to foster economic development and social progress of its member countries. The IsDB has 56 member countries and the Bank now boasts of five autonomous entities in form of a “Group”. They are (i) Islamic Development Bank – IsDB; (ii) Islamic Research and Training Institute – IRTI; (iii) Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit – ICIEC; (iv) Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector – ICD; and (v) International Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation – ITFC.
In its bid to nurture greater client centricity, the IsDB is now in the process of opening its Country Gateway Office (CGO) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The core functions of CGOs may be summarized as strategizing, project preparation, implementation facilitation and relations building. In order to fulfil its role and mandate, the Bangladesh CGO wishes to advertise the following local professional positions to the general public. 01. ENERGY SPECIALIST
Job Description
Reporting administratively to the Resident Representative
and operationally to Energy & ICT Division, your primary
responsibilities will be as follows:

  •  Assist in preparing strategic plans and market analyses of renewable energy projects in member countries in the region.
  • Participate in project identification activities, sector studies, cost – benefit and socio-economic analysis and outcome assessment in the Bank’s projects in the energy sector.
  • Provide knowledge base and advice relating to clean development mechanism (CDM), alternative fuels, and carbon market.
  • Provide technical insight on renewable energy matters and participate in initiatives for technical knowledge sharing within and outside the complex.
  • Collect, analyze and process information on energy sector projects having the Bank’s involvement and communicate with stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain relations and provide support to clients in member countries around technology commercialization and renewable energy activities.

The Successful Applicant
You should have:

  • Bachelors / Masters / Doctorate in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Field experience in the sector planning, projects and studies with a multilateral development bank across 2-3 member countries.
  • Experience in the energy development field, preferably in development energy planning, projects and studies.
  • Fluency and certain proficiency in English Language. Knowledge of Arabic/French as second language is preferable.

02. HUMAN DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Job Description
Reporting administratively to the Resident Representative and operationally to the Education & Health Division Manager, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Participate in the preparation and review of education & health sector policies & strategies.
  • Review, appraise, support & implement education & health projects.
  • Liaising with various teams & stakeholders on matters related to implementation and administration of education & health projects / programs.
  • Provide expert advice and technical inputs to executing agencies, in-country technical teams, peers and various stakeholders on education & health sector related issues.
  • Collect, analyze and process information relating to education & health sector operations & ensure that 1DB is adequately briefed on trends in the education and health sectors.

The Successful Applicant
You should have:

  • Bachelors / Masters / Doctorate in Education / Health / Business Administration with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge of education and health sector related issues.
  • Knowledge of the workings of Governments, multilateral development banks, NGO’s the UN system or bilateral agencies.
  • Fluency and certain proficiency in English Language. Knowledge of Arabic/French as second language is preferable.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.

03. INTEGRATED RURAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Job Description
Reporting administratively to the Resident Representative and operationally to Manager IRD, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Contribute to developing and implementing country and sector strategy.
  • Collate and analyze data on rural development sector projects / programs and participate in drawing future roadmaps for strengthening sector.
  • Carry out responsibilities for a variety of operational tasks and undertaking assignments of project preparation, appraisal, supervision and ESW in field of expertise.
  • Provide technical advice and consultation to peers, departments, divisions, clients and banks in rural development related issues, concepts and strategies.
  • Contribute in preparation of briefing notes, case studies, annual benchmarking reports, and other ad-hock reports on the status of the Projects portfolio at the Country and Sector level.
  • Communicate with executing agencies regarding missions and sector related issues.

The Successful Applicant
You should have:

  • Masters / Doctorate in Rural Development / Rural Engineering / Civil Engineering / Rural Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Agriculture and Rural Development sectors or domains; engineering and technologies, subsectors and policies of rural development institutions, rural infrastructure and rural finance.
  • Understanding of the overall strategy, policy, legal and regulatory framework for the development of the rural development sector in client countries.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills. Fluency and certain proficiency in English Language is a must.
  • Should be open to travel frequently.

04. PROTECT PROCUREMENT ANALYST
Job Description
Reporting administratively to the Resident Representative and operationally to the Division Manager Projects Procurement Division, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Providing procurement analytical support to all kinds of Procurement Projects
  • Ensuring smooth execution and timely review of ongoing procurement management initiatives
  • Generating/assisting-with a variety of reports around the procurement related activities of the bank
  • Drafting standard routine correspondences, and other templates related to procurement
  • Coordinating the preparation of bidding documents like TORs, RFPs etc.
  • Timely reviewing internal practices as well as documents, pertaining to procurement
  • Entering bidding related information into SAP efficiently
  • Providing procurement support services to peers and colleagues internally.

The Successful Applicant
You should have:

  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Engineering / Law / Business Administration with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Previous experience of working with SAP is highly valued
  • Fluency and certain proficiency in English Language. Knowledge of Arabic/French as second language is preferable
  • Should have strong interpersonal & communication skills.
