Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd Job Circular

Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd. (DPDC) is entrusted with the responsibility of operation, maintenance and development of the power system network within the geographical area of DPDC (major half of Dhaka & Narayanganj City), invites applications from the energetic and competent citizen of Bangladesh for immediate appointment to the following post on contractual basis for initially a period of three (03) years.

Name of the Post: Managing Director (01):
Managing Director is the Chief Executive of the Company responsible to the Board of Directors. He is the leader of the Management Team of the Company, responsible for overall management, e g., administration, corporate planning, business development and ensuring the compliances of laws, rules and regulations and for ensuring Good Governance of the organization. He is also responsible for supervision of all technical, financial, welfare aspects, negotiating project financing issues with donors/development partners and listing the company in the stock exchange(s) etc.

Required Qualifications:
(a) Candidate must be Graduate Engineer or Post Graduate in Management / Social Science / Physical Science / Applied Science/MBA/Finance/Accounting or FCA/FCMA.
(b) Candidate shall have at least twenty five (25) years of experience in large Public Utility Organization, Large Private Sector Company working in a multidisciplinary environment, including experience of working in the senior management position of the organization.
(c) Candidate should be efficient, dynamic and energetic.
(d) Candidate should have initiative with participatory leadership ability that will ensure the vision and execute the mission for incremental growth of the Company.
(e) Candidate should have excellent communication skills in Bangla and English and shall be capable of working under and managing the challenging situations.
(f) Candidate with Post Graduate Qualifications in Engineering and experience of working in large public electric utility will get preference.
(g) Candidate preferably be conversant in company law, labour law, RBM (Result Based Management), public procurement. Corporate Governance etc.

Age Limit:
Age should preferably be between fifty (50) and fifty nine (59) years as on 15th April 2017. Age may be relaxed in case of exceptionally qualified deserving candidates.

Remuneration/ Compensation Package:
Basic salary per month Taka 1,75,000.00 (One Lac Seventy Five Thousand) only plus accommodation, if not, 50 % of basic pay per month will be given, two festival bonuses in a year, contributory provident fund, group insurance, encashment of leave, fringe benefits, gratuity as per applicable rules of the company. Expenses at actual medical services of self and family members as mentioned in the company Service Rules will be reimbursed up to a maximum limit of 03 (Three) months basic salary per annum, and full time vehicles will be provided as per applicable rules of the company. Income tax shall have to be paid by the employee. This remuneration/ compensation package will be subjected to adjustment in the pay structure of the company.

Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC) is entrusted with the responsibility of operation, maintenance and development of the power system network within the geographical area of DPDC (major half of Dhaka & Narayanganj City), invites applications from energetic and promising citizens of Bangladesh for appointment to the following position on contract basis for a period of maximum 03 (three) years at a time (inclusive of 01 year probationary period) which is renewable up to the age of 60 years subject to satisfactory performance against specific yearly targets to be set by the Board.

1. Assistant Engineer: Number of post 03(Merit Quota Only)
1.1 The Assistant Engineer is the position of the company in the functional area titled Technical, primarily engaged in assisting distribution management, manage functions pertaining to operations and maintenance of sub-stations, distribution lines, load management, consumer connections, commercial activities, planning, design, development and preparation of project profiles for the electrical network system etc.; reporting to the Executive Engineer. He/ She will work under the direct supervision of Executive Engineer in achieving the targets of DPDC (e.g. distribution quality, revenue etc.).

1.2 Required Qualification for:

1.2.1 Telecommunication Engineering – 02 posts:
B.Sc. in Engineering in Telecommunication/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electronics & Communication/ Communication;

1.2.2 Electro-Mechanical Engineering  01 post: B.Sc. in Engineering in Electro-Mechanical. Candidates must have minimum 2nd divisions/ classes or CGPA 2 or above in SSC and HSC or equivalent and must have minimum 2nd divisions/ classes or CGPA 2.25 or above in a scale of 4 or 2.82 in a scale of 5 in rest of the educational life. No 3rd division/ class or CGPA below 2 in any examination will be eligible to apply. Letter grades of О Level and A Level subjects are to be converted into grade points on the basis of A= 4. B= 3, C= 2 and D= 1. Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by averaging the grade points. Computer proficiency is an absolute necessity. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written Bangla and English languages, and should be capable of working in challenging situation.
1.3 Remuneration/Compensation Package:
Basic salary per month Taka 51,000.00 (Fifty One Thousand) only plus house rent @ 60% of basic per month for Dhaka City and 50% of basic per month for Narayanganj and Gazipur City area, two festival bonuses in year, contributory provident fund, group insurance, encashment of leave, gratuity as per applicable rules of the company. Expenses at actual for medical treatment purpose as mentioned in the company Service Rules will be reimbursed up to a maximum limit of equal to 02 (two) months basic salary per annum, and transport allowances will be provided as per company policy. Income tax shall have to be paid by the employee.

  2. Aged maximum 32 (thirty two) years on 01.03.2017. Maximum age limit & educational result (CGPA/ Division) may be relaxed for suitable internal (DPDC’s employees only) candidate.
  3. Those who have recently appeared in the examination and yet to get their degree, need not apply for the position.
  4. The applicant must pay Tk.1500/- (one thousand five hundred) using ‘Pay Order/ Bank Draft’ in favour of DGM, Employee Management (Administration), HR, DPDC.
  5. Persons employed in govt., semi govt., autonomous organization or power sector utilities should submit application through proper channel.
  6. Persuasion of any kind will disqualify the candidate. The authority reserves the right to accept or reject any application and increase or decrease number of positions/ posts as it may seem proper and no explanation for such action will be provided to the applicant.
  7. Duly filled in application form (printed/typed) with 04 (Four) attested passport size recent photographs, attested photocopies of all educational certificates, marks sheet, 02 (Two) self-addressed envelope, attested copy of National Identity Card or copy of Passport (1st two pages) in enclosed envelope marked with the name of the post applied for should reach to the Deputy General Manager, Employee Management (Administration).
